A Match is Tiny. A Log is Big.

Kindling is what gets you from one to the other.

Our Western Red Cedar kindling is kiln-dried, easy to arrange and sized to catch quickly, creating enough sustained flame to ignite larger pieces of wood. Kiln drying also means you’re not hauling bugs around. It’s useful. It smells nice.

Use it in woodstoves, fireplaces, fire pits, campsites and cabins—or throw a box in the truck and forget about it until you need it. We have a feeling it’s the sort of thing you’ll start packing around with you everywhere.

Why Cedar?

Western Red Cedar is lightweight, straight-grained and quick to catch. Its low density means it heats fast, while its natural oils give it that unmistakable cedar smell.

Ours is kiln-dried, bug-free and cut to just the right size. In other words: unusually good wood for starting a fire.

How Much Do I Need?

Usually a modest handful. We think you can make about eight fires with a box of kindling.

Build loosely so air can move through it, add a fire starter if you'd like an easier start, and resist the urge to immediately bury everything under your largest log.

Woodstoves

Cold mornings. Cold houses. Coming home after being gone all day. Good kindling and a reliable fire starter make getting the stove up and running considerably less of a project.
