Brandt Firecraft is made for the first few minutes of a fire — the part between striking a match and having something that will actually keep burning.
That comes in handy in a lot of places.
Frequently asked questions
Is this only for fireplaces?
No. Brandt Firecraft products can be used anywhere you're building an appropriate wood fire, including woodstoves, fireplaces, outdoor fire pits, campsites, cabins and wood-fired saunas.
Why use kindling?
Because large pieces of firewood are difficult to ignite directly. Kindling catches more easily and creates the sustained heat needed to ignite larger wood.
How much kindling should I use?
Start with a small, loose arrangement that allows plenty of airflow. You can always add more. Packing it tightly usually makes your job harder.
Do I need both a fire starter and kindling?
You don't need both, but they make an excellent team. The fire starter provides a dependable initial flame; the kindling catches from that flame and helps ignite your firewood.
What if my fire keeps going out?
Check the three usual suspects: dry material, airflow and patience.
Make sure your kindling is dry, leave enough space for oxygen to circulate and give the smaller material time to burn strongly before adding larger logs.
Can beginners use this?
Please do.
A substantial portion of Brandt Firecraft exists because building a fire is supposedly easy right up until you're the person kneeling in front of one that refuses to burn.
